The Academy of Radiology Research is an alliance of 27 professional imaging societies. Established in 1995, the Academy was the catalyst for creating the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering (NIBIB), for supporting its growth and development, for accelerating investment in vital imaging research areas by other NIH institutes, and for building support for radiology and imaging in Congress and the Executive Branch. The Academy is the umbrella organization to the Coalition for Imaging and Bioengineering Research (CIBR) and the Academic Council (ARRAC). Combined, the Academy, CIBR, and the Academic Council represent the interests of each of the imaging stakeholders engaged in and supportive of research and discovery.
Academy's Mission The mission of the Academy of Radiology Research is to raise the profile of imaging research through education and advocacy. The Academy works to increase resources and opportunities for imaging research, and to promote the translation of that research to enhance human health.
CIBR's Mission To raise the profile of imaging through education and advocacy, link the benefits of imaging to the improvement of patient care, highlight the effect federal funding has on each stakeholder within the imaging community, and show the potential cost savings of advanced imaging technologies.
ARRAC's Mission ARRAC builds awareness of the improvements in patient care that are made possible by the cutting edge imaging research being performed at the nation’s premiere academic radiology departments.
